Silverback SolarTM Management

It takes a rare team of professionals to take on the task of changing an entire industry.

In seeing the problems and limitations that existed with rooftop solar products currently available, the Silverback Solar management team recognized an opportunity that they could respond to. The result is, finally, an industrial size racking system, capable of spanning longer distances and attaching into any roofing system without ever having a leak. It's that kind of creativity and industry leadership that defines the Silverback Solar team. Consultative sales and support philosophy; comprehensive engineering and design; accurate packaging and delivery; it takes talented and dedicated people to make these processes smooth and easy for the customer. And in doing so, it fulfills the entire management's vision of being the best source for PV and solar thermal mounting in the business.

Messages From a Few of Our Key Leaders

These are extraordinary days, as we experience the excitement of the transformation from dependence on oil to the burgeoning field of renewable energies. We are amazed at the rapid technological advances occurring almost on a daily basis, and here at Silverback Solar we are very proud to be a part of it. To some, the support structure holding up a solar panel may be mundane, but we are very passionate about it. It's what we do. It's what we're good at.

In 2002, when we first began developing the products that are now the Silverback Solar Racking System, we set out with three clearly defined objectives: make it easy and fast to install, stock the parts for quick delivery, and make it leak proof. We achieved those goals, and now, several years later and over 500 projects completed, we have perfected the art of rooftop framing and racking.

We are very excited about the future. As we rapidly move towards becoming the industry standard for commercial rooftop PV and Solar Thermal Racking Systems, our very specialized team is anxious to share it with you. Give us a call.

Ryan W. Bruce
President and CEO
Ryan has nearly 3 decades of experience in multiple facets of construction and building trades. Inventor and entrepreneur by nature, he utilized his years of experience specializing in sheet metal and roofing to create the concepts and designs that Silverback Solar is built on. He currently is the inventor of record on two patents for roof screen framing systems and is the inventor and patent pending owner of Silverback Solar's proprietary adjustable PV module hold-up clip, watertight attachment system and heavy duty blind anchor bolt. Founder of RoofScreen Mfg, Inc, a company specializing in engineered rooftop aesthetic solutions, Ryan is also a licensed CA State contractor for HVAC, Sheet Metal and Roofing.

Silverback Solar is unique in that we take complete ownership of your solar racking solution. We don't give you a bunch of parts and a tech sheet expecting you to work it all out. We understand that you have a great deal on your plate already. We want to be your first call when it comes to a solar racking solution; your critical go to partner. We have found success in this approach, resulting in many satisfied return customers.
There can be a great deal of engineering and behind the scenes work that goes into a rooftop racking system. Our goal is to be a consultant to you, ultimately distilling down the complexity and providing you with an elegant, intuitive solution; a solution that gives you the greatest density in the industry. When you are wrestling with rooftop clutter; piping, duct work, vents, skylights, HVAC units, etc., Silverback Solar is your only call.

Bill Warner
Sales Manager
BSEE, Marquette University 1981
Bill has been involved in technical solution selling for 28 years. He has worked for Texas Instruments, Hewlett Packard, LSI Logic, and Marathon Technologies in sales. While working for Network Equipment Technologies he traveled the globe explaining the use of his sales automation system. This background is the impetus for Silverback Solar's innovative solar rack configuration software.

Thousands of hours and years of brainstorming, trial and error, testing, and sweat equity have gone into the development of our rooftop framing and solar racking systems. We looked at other methods and products, analyzed them and studied their deficiencies. Applying some ingenuity, we overcame the problems those other systems face, and introduced this sleek, roof friendly design. Innovations like our Sprocket Lock feature of the Roof Attachment Assembly, which reduces the impact on the roof framing and allows a much smaller footprint, are the type of engineering successes we bring to the table.
Although the components of our system are pre-engineered, we are not your typical off the shelf product. Our goal is to make our engineering expertise available to you, our customer, by providing job specific designs that work with the specific building conditions for your project.
We're committed to a sustainable future; so much so, that we believe the fundamental engineering principals we've designed into our system are years ahead of our competition. We are the roof attachment specialists with an eye on the future.

Michael Hanson
Senior Product Engineer
BSET, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 1994
Silverback Solar is a perfect blend for Michael's commitment to sustainable construction practices and renewable energy technologies. He began his career early, working for his father as a carpenter in the residential housing industry. Michael has continued his involvement in the construction industry over the years through various humanitarian projects at home and abroad. Professionally, he spent 15 years working as a Mechanical Engineer and as a consultant. Michael has been named on numerous patents. He has designed and/or manufactured a wide variety of products in many industries, including medical devices, automation systems for manufacturing, construction equipment, handheld consumer devices, and, with a vision towards reducing carbon footprints, he even designed a human-powered vehicle.
